My origins (Catalan follows):

I was born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1977. Barcelona, an amazing and very beautiful city, is the capital of Catalonia (Catalunya), a region in the northeast of Spain. Catalunya, a nation for many, has its own language, Catalan, which is spoken or understood by as many as 12 million people who live not only in Spain, but also in Andorra and in parts of France and Italy.

My parents, Joan and Laura, are also from Barcelona and have always lived there. I have two younger brothers, Edu (1981) and Joan (1983), and a sister, Laia (1996), who became the 'queen' of the family at her very arrival from China, her native country. We all grew up in the 'barceloní' neighborhood of Gracia. There, I went to school (elementary, middle and highschool), and it was in my last year of highschool when I met Mireia, my wife since June 19, 2004.

In 2004, we decided to give a big twist to our lives, and we moved to Florida (USA) to pursue my PhD in Industrial Engineering. We lived in Gainesville (ranked as the #1 place to live in the 2007), home to the University of Florida, for more than 4 years. During this time, Mireia worked as a lecturer of, surprinsingly, Catalan for the University of Florida. Her courses were quite popular averaging about 12 students per year. Living abroad in such an amazing country has been a very enriching experience, and we will always bring in our hearts the wonderful people we met during this time. After I finished my studies in 2008, we moved back to Barcelona, where we have settled down again.

My favorite hobby: Soccer

I've played soccer since I was first able to walk. Here is a list of all teams I've played for: PB Les Corts, FC Barcelona, Ferran Martorell, CE Europa, Can Vidalet, Roda de Barà, Ripollet. And once 'retired', just for fun: Nottingham Pressa, Eintracht de Bratwurst (BRAFA Champions: Apertura 2004, Clausura 2005, Clausura 2009), Optimizers (UF Intramural Grad Champions: Spring 05), Dynamo and Sporting FC (UF Intramural Champions: Spring 07, Summer B 07, Fall 07, Summer A 08, Fall 08).
My favorite soccer team: FC Barcelona (aka Barça). Considered 'més que un club' (more than a club), and the best team in the world nowadays, Barcelona has won many championships since its foundation in 1899. In 2009, we became the first team ever to win everything in the same year (The Sextuple): Spanish National League (La Liga), Spanish Cup (Copa del Rey), European Champions League ('el triplet'), UEFA Supercup, Spanish Supercup and FIFA Club World Cup.
